Făgăraș Fest 2026: Music and Nature

share

The Făgăraș Mountains are not just a landscape. They are an invisible provider we use every day.

Clean air, drinking water, wood, berries, pastures, fish, climate regulation, habitats for hundreds of species, landscapes that nourish the soul — all these come from the Făgăraș Mountains. And all are free. Not because they cost nothing, but because nature doesn't send invoices.

These processes have a name: ecosystem services. And precisely because they are invisible, they are the easiest to ignore.

At the 2026 edition of Făgăraș Fest, we are introducing a new tradition: an annual theme dedicated to the nature of these mountains. This year's theme highlights exactly what we receive from the Făgăraș Mountains and what happens if we don't know how to appreciate what we have.

Come and discover how the nature of the mountains we love truly works.

Nature Experiences at Făgăraș Fest 2026

Over 30 guided tours — the largest number in the festival's history — take participants directly into the heart of the 2026 theme. Not as a lecture, but as an experience: forests, rivers, waterfalls, insects, birds, mountain flora. Guides don't explain from a board — they lead the way on the trail and show how a living ecosystem works.

Flora, fauna, insects, bird watching, the waterfalls of Valea Moașei, Suru Cabin — each route is, without seeming so, a lesson about what a working mountain means.

“Nature doesn't have a communication department. No one explains that the mountain behind the village filters the tap water or that the forest on the ridge keeps the temperature a few degrees lower. At Făgăraș Fest 2026, we do that job — through experiences, not lectures. We bring concerts, trails, stories, and moments that transform an abstract concept into a reality you can feel,” said Victoria Donos, Communication Director of the Conservation Carpathia Foundation.

The festival maintains the series of discussions Carpathia Talks, where guests and specialists bring current topics about nature and the relationship between people and ecosystems to the forefront. Through open conversations and different perspectives, the public is invited to reflect on the role of nature in our lives and how today's decisions influence the balance of ecosystems in the long term.

For children and families, the festival prepares interactive outdoor activities, including the competition “Făgăraș Mountain Explorers”, which challenges the little ones to discover nature through games and challenges inspired by the life of mountain ecosystems.

The festival evenings will be complemented by concerts and musical moments that bring together well-known artists and community artists, transforming the atmosphere at the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains into a space for meeting, relaxation, and joy in the midst of nature.

Friday evening, the audience will enjoy a concert by the Sibiu State Philharmonic, followed by ROA, and on Saturday evening the festival stage will be enlivened by Vița de Vie and DJ Raul Carpiuc. Under the open sky, music becomes part of the festival experience, alongside stories, conversations, and the tranquility of the mountain.

Făgăraș Fest Supports Local Businesses

At Făgăraș Fest, the food comes from producers in the villages around the Făgăraș Mountains — people who develop small businesses, people who use local ingredients, people who prepare everything that reaches the plates of those who come to the festival. The beer is artisanal and local, as are the jams, cheeses, sweets, and juices. The festival market is a living inventory of the area: craftsmen who still know how to work with their hands, small businesses that have chosen to stay and build here.

Făgăraș Fest – A Festival for the Whole Family

Făgăraș Fest is a place where nature, community, and outdoor experiences meet naturally. From hikes and guided tours to activities for children, concerts, and meetings with locals, the festival offers participants the chance to discover the Făgăraș Mountains in an authentic way.

Every corner of the festival tells a story, whether it's a walk on mountain trails, an inspiring conversation at Carpathia Talks, or a moment of music experienced under the open sky. Făgăraș Fest creates a space where people can enjoy nature, learn new things, and spend time together.

Făgăraș Fest – A Festival with Community Impact

Since its first edition, Făgăraș Fest has become an important event for the communities around the Făgăraș Mountains. Organized over the years in several localities in the region, the festival has contributed to promoting the area and supporting local initiatives.

The 2025 edition brought over 7,000 participants to the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains and directly involved the local community: 18 local producers and merchants, 800 locals, and 46 volunteers contributed to the organization and atmosphere of the festival.

We look forward to seeing you at Făgăraș Fest 2026 for three days spent in the heart of nature, at the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains. Hikes, stories, music, and meetings with people who love nature will intertwine into an experience that brings together the community, visitors, and the beauty of the place.

Residents of Racovița commune benefit from free access to the festival with their identity card.
