eEco Building at Urban HUB
Starting from November 2026, the periodic meetings of the sustainability community eEco and some activities of the over 350 members will take place at Urban Hub. The community includes suppliers of products and services, start-ups, SMEs, NGOs, large companies, researchers, experts and consultants, communication specialists, and individuals. All are concerned with sustainability in general and Responsible Consumption and Production in particular (Sustainable Development Goal 12), which is also the focus of eEco.ro, the main project of the Non-Profit Association Sustainable Solutions.
The platform helps people and companies change their lifestyle and business model through the tools it provides: Information, Product and Service Suppliers, Events, Community. Through these solutions and by facilitating partnerships between different stakeholders in the sustainability ecosystem, it aims to contribute to solving global issues that accelerate the climate change problem: overproduction, overconsumption, too much plastic, too much pollution.
Additionally, through the partnership with Urban Hub, the eEco ecosystem also opens up to the general public. Anyone concerned with similar topics, such as the circular economy, food and any kind of waste, waste management, green procurement, overconsumption and overproduction, sustainable lifestyle and responsible business model, ecotourism and renewable energy, will find someone at Urban Hub every week willing to seek a solution to the challenges they face. Whether it's a start-up company needing guidance, suppliers, partners, consultancy; a company that has already started the transition and has needs that have not yet been met; a start-up or NGO offering green solutions but lacking market access, or simply citizens concerned about climate change who want to contribute to finding solutions but don't know how.
Specifically, every Friday, between 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM, the founder of the sustainability platform eEco.ro, Teodora Ghenciu, will be present at Urban Hub to listen to the challenges of those interested in sustainable development. Appointments will be made in advance, online or on-site, using a QR code. Subsequently, these challenges will be addressed in activities organized by eEco and Urban HUB, such as debates, round tables, workshops, fairs, exhibitions, or matchmaking sessions.
Teodora Ghenciu, founder of eEco.ro: We aim to have monthly meetings on sustainability topics that are more than just ordinary conferences. I believe many people are tired of a lot of talk and little action, events after which nothing happens. So our proposal, mine and Lavinia's, is to create a space for more personal events that lead to better connections, dispelling the feeling of loneliness that many entrepreneurs who want impact before profit have, and why not, creating a sense of belonging. Because from this area, I believe there are more chances for collaborations to emerge.
Of course, in the end, all this effort should contribute to the decarbonization of Romania, because the value chains of large companies are greening, consumer behavior is changing, business models are evolving. But until then, people need to be together with other people concerned about the effects of climate change, people who are looking for solutions. And who have realized that together they can do more than if they are alone. And what we want is to create at Urban Hub the context for these sustainability partnerships to actually happen.
Located at Piața Romană no. 2, in a building with 1930s architecture, Urban Hub is a multifunctional space dedicated to corporate events and creative communities. The building, renovated in an urban chic style, brings together on several levels work areas, a café and social space, an event hall, spaces for workshops and team meetings, as well as a terrace for networking and relaxation.
With a capacity of 20 to 100 people, Urban Hub offers complete solutions for organizing events and meetings, from workshops and work sessions to corporate events and community meetings. More than just a space, Urban Hub aims to become an ecosystem where people, businesses, and ideas meet and transform into impactful projects. Through partnerships and initiatives dedicated to sustainability, creativity, and community development, Urban Hub creates a framework for meaningful conversations, relevant collaborations, and ideas that can contribute to a more connected, creative, and sustainable city.
Lavinia Pavel, Urban Hub shareholder: We opened Urban Hub out of a desire to do things that are bigger than myself and that will remain after us. I believe change is not built alone, but when the right people meet, put their ideas, experience, and energy together, and choose to do something for the place they live in.
Sustainability has always been an important value for me, and I believe each of us has the responsibility to leave the city a little better than we found it. That's why the partnership with Teodora means more to me than just a simple collaboration or a one-off initiative to build a community. It is, I hope, the beginning of an ecosystem where people and businesses that look responsibly at the world they live in and want to do something for our children and grandchildren can turn ideas into concrete initiatives. In a city where we sometimes feel we no longer have room to breathe, I want Urban Hub to be a place where we can breathe, imagine, and build differently. Maybe we won't change the world all at once, but we can start to change the way we look at it and, especially, the way we choose to build it.
The strategic partnership will be marked by an intimate evening event at Urban Hub, where those who have supported the eEco project so far will be specially invited, on October 27, exactly on the day the platform was launched four years ago. And the date on which Sustainability Day is also celebrated in Romania, promulgated by law in 2023.
