Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact
On October 1, the European Commission opened the call for the new generation of Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact, who will join the community of nearly 50 active ambassadors already in Romania.
The call ends on October 31, 2026; until then, those interested can register at this link, and will be evaluated by the Commission to become part of an elite group formed by the promoters of this extensive citizen movement that counts over 1100 members across the European Union.
All those who wish to positively influence the world they are part of, inform and inspire their communities with whom they feel solidarity regarding climate policies and actions, initiate or simply support these policies, are invited to become Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact. Ambassadors can come from different fields of activity and act in a personal or professional capacity, not on behalf of the European Commission. Their selection is based on compatibility with the values of the European Climate Pact and the desire and ability to contribute to understanding the impact of climate change.
The registration link provides details about the role of Ambassadors, the timeline and selection process, as well as a vast collection of reports and images of actions carried out so far in Europe on this topic.
Inclusion in this group offers Ambassadors access to complex tools and resources, allowing them to build a distinct, clear, strong, and competent voice, and to express themselves according to their own values on this highly current and concerning subject. Additionally, they gain increased visibility for activities carried out in the context of the Climate Pact and can join its vast network of professionals. The Pact promotes the exchange of information about the climate crisis, stimulates debate, and encourages active participation in the climate movement.
Among the over 1100 such ambassadors in the European Union, 47 are in Romania, and they are presented here.
The European Climate Pact is a framework for climate awareness and action for Europeans, with the aim of transforming the European Union into a modern, competitive, and resource-efficient economy, where:
- by 2050, we achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions;
- economic growth is decoupled from resource use;
- no person and no place is left behind.
Launched by the European Commission in 2020 as part of the European Green Deal, the European Climate Pact is a movement of citizens and organizations who want a more sustainable and climate-neutral Europe. Their network today includes over 1100 ambassadors in the 27 countries of the European Union (including 47 in Romania) and over 100 partner organizations (with 4 partner NGOs in Romania: Ateliere fără frontiere, Climato Sfera, Centrul Național pentru Producție și Consum Durabile and Asociația SNK).
