Sustainable Development Gala
The national call for finding champions in climate action is open for entries until September 22, 10:00 PM, and those interested can register HERE!
The champions will then be awarded at the Sustainable Development Gala, 6th edition, broadcast in December on TVR1, organized by the Department for Sustainable Development within the Government of Romania, with the support of the European Climate Pact.
The Gala will showcase the achievements of the five CHAMPIONS - organizations and institutions that contribute, through their projects, to preventing or mitigating the impact of climate change, understanding this phenomenon, or educating and raising public awareness.
Organizations that have carried out such projects in the last 3 years, specifically in the period 2024-2026, are invited to apply.
Entries are open until September 22, 2026, 10:00 PM, by completing the form.
The competition is aimed at the following categories:
- NGOs or initiative groups
- Schools, high schools, kindergartens, County School Inspectorates, and institutions like "Children's Palace" or "Teacher Training Center"
- Universities and research & development institutes
- Local and central public administration institutions
- Commercial companies
One champion will be selected for each of the five categories.
Projects that bring public benefit, propose collaborative and creative approaches, are visible and replicable, and have the capacity to generate continuity are sought.
For example, projects that contribute to the formulation or implementation of public measures and policies, research and data collection on climate change, specialist training, risk management associated with extreme phenomena, planning more resilient communities, or other solutions for reducing climate impact can be submitted.
Equally expected are education, information, and awareness projects that explain the effects of climate change and contribute to a better understanding of the solutions through which people and communities can adapt and act.
The champions will be awarded at the Sustainable Development Gala 2026, broadcast by TVR 1. At the Gala, video profiles dedicated to the five winners will be presented, promoting the good practices they can inspire in other organizations or communities.
The Sustainable Development Gala is at its 6th edition and is part of the multi-annual program of the Department for Sustainable Development dedicated to promoting sustainable development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
The current edition benefits from the support of the Romanian ambassadors of the European Climate Pact.
