The textile reuse and recycling industry demands clear rules for the new REP system.

The Romanian Association for Textile Reuse and Recycling urges authorities for an Extended Producer Responsibility system that prioritizes the reuse and recycling of textiles, with clear targets, public data, and adequate funding. The Association warns that, without a predictable framework, worn-out clothes will continue to end up in landfills or incineration, instead of being reintegrated into the circular economy.

More order, less waste: organizing the closet as a sustainable habit

Do we have too many clothes but nothing to wear? Although it doesn't seem so at first glance, reorganizing your closet has a direct impact on clothing consumption and reduces waste, helping us to be more sustainable. An organized closet does not mean perfection, but more clarity. See what you have, wear what you love, and buy more thoughtfully. Sort your clothes and you will discover unnecessary duplicates, fold them vertically instead of stacking them, and see everything at a glance; keep only seasonal clothes visible, and the rest in boxes. All these practical tips, plus many more, were provided during the latest Humana Hub workshop, a series of events organized by Humana People to People to promote sustainability in fashion.

We collect too little, we throw away too much: why Romania can't recycle its clothes

Starting January 1, 2025, Romania is, at least theoretically, obliged to separately collect textile waste. But in the absence of a real infrastructure and a national monitoring, collection, and reporting system, this obligation risks becoming a formality, with no impact on the environment or how we treat used clothes.
