A European Directive supporting ecodesign has been in place since 2009, but the European Commission recently adopted new measures aimed at helping companies and consumers move as quickly as possible towards a circular economy. Ecodesign considers environmental aspects at all stages of the product development process, aiming for products with the lowest possible environmental impact throughout their life cycle. Ecodesign refers to a wide range of products, from electronics and home appliances to textiles and household goods. They must meet all conditions to have the longest possible lifespan, be repairable, consume as little energy as possible, and also be reusable and, finally, recyclable.
