Protest for Women's Safety
We want social services at the local level in small urban and rural areas!
The "Together for Women's Safety!" March, organized by the V.I.F. Network, is in its 9th edition this year. Our strength is perseverance. Our ranks grow stronger year after year! We call on local authorities in small urban and rural areas to collaborate with central authorities and together finance services for victims of domestic violence and sexual violence. Join us on Sunday, October 22nd at 3:00 PM for the march. The safety of girls and women from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds is important! Authorities have an obligation to guarantee our right to safety and integrity!
The figures reflecting the dimensions of gender-based violence in Romania continue to rise. More and more reports of domestic violence and sexual violence cases. The number of interventions is increasing. Last year, while we were at the march, 10 interventions per hour were taking place. In total, IGPR statistics show that there were 90,174 interventions in domestic violence cases and 12,972 provisional protection orders were issued in 2022. Surely this year their number is higher. Our presence, those of us who take to the streets annually, those who engage in advocacy activities or provide services for girls/women, increases the number of reported cases. Together we have more confidence in ourselves and compel the system to provide us with the safety we need.
